About
Gvendolina Završnik (b. 2000, Kranj) is an illustrator who mainly makes comics. She is also interested in printmaking, which she studied at the academy in Bratislava during an Erasmus exchange.
She graduated in 2024 from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, where she is now completing her master’s degree.
Her work has been published in the comics magazine Stripburger and in the magazine Literatura. She also takes part in various projects.
She pours her interest in nature, mythology and folklore into drawings in ink and black tempera, and sometimes into drypoint prints on tetrapak and monotypes. She also uses watercolour, but drawing is the “skeleton” of her illustrations.
Her work shows a deep immersion in the natural world. Recurring motifs are the river, the tree, the rock, the flower, and bracket fungi on felled trunks. She weaves in mythology and folklore subtly – above all, she lets nature speak for itself through expressive line.
